Nico, Flora, Roger and Tom - Always and forever in our hearts.

We united with dog lovers worldwide for the annual “Remember me” awareness campaign. Here at the home we remembered all dogs that have died in kennels through illness or simply old age and especially the four that died in the Manchester Dogs Home fire.

Actress, Katherine Heigl, led the 2014 campaign. On Thursday candles were lit around the world, honouring the millions of pets who lost their lives over the past year without the benefit of being in a loving home.

At Merseyside Dogs Home we asked everyone to light a candle on Thursday 25th September, to raise attention to adoptable dogs still awaiting their forever homes on Merseyside. Last year we had thirty six dogs at Merseyside that were ill or old and died without a loving home. This year we were devastated by the four that were inadvertently caught up in the Manchester Dogs Home fire, especially Nico who had been with us for five months.

In honor of Nico and the four musketeers we have named a kennel after them (The Musketeers) and are asking for sponsors for their kennel that will help to save over thirty dogs a year and costs over £9,000 to run. If you can spare £3 a week please help.

We receive no government funding and we are finding it increasingly difficult to continue the hard work, please help us to continue. Download the Standing Order form here
