Abbey Clancy and husband Peter Crouch gave dogs at Merseyside Dogs Home a treat – twice!
As dogs and volunteers were arriving at Calderstones Park for their Sunday morning walk they were greeted by celebrities Abbey Clancy and husband Peter Crouch. The twelve dogs and twenty volunteer dog walkers were surprised to see Abbey and Peter who were walking their own two dogs in the park.
Paul Dunne said “Abbey came over to enquire about the dogs and was interested in their plight as stray dogs” everyone was excited and surprised by her and her husband’s interest. The Dogs Home is regularly seen walking dogs in Calderstone and on a Sunday takes around twelve dogs to meet up with volunteers.
“it’s good for the dogs to experience new environments, we particularly like Calderstones as it is a dog friendly park, other dog walkers stop and introduce their own pets and pat our dogs – its great for socialising”
Abbey who is participating in this Christmas’ special of strictly come dancing then turned up unexpectedly at the dog’s home, both her and husband Peter delivered much needed food and treats for the dogs. “Abbey was particular interested in a young stray dog that came into them a week ago, undernourished and sickly” the youngster has not yet been given a name but staff who are known for their creative and unusual naming of dogs are currently thinking of a name to give the dog after Abby’s visit.
Sally Kirkby from Wilmslow said “I follow Abbey on twitter and voted for her on strictly, she re tweeted a post of Merseyside Dogs Home’s that lead us to visit and adopt the beautiful Walnut Whippet, who is now a much cherished member of our family”
Merseyside Dogs Home currently have 57 dogs looking for forever homes and open seven days a week on Greensbridge Lane, Halewood.
