Bark in the Park is back on !

Fun day is going ahead, you can bring your dog along even if you are not participating. There is no admission fee, we just ask for donations to help lost dogs on Merseyside fun starts at 10am and ends at 4pm.

Last year visitors came from all across Merseyside with their dogs to the event, Paul Dunne of Merseyside Dogs Home who had organised the dog festival said “we were overwhelmed with 3,000 visitors. It went very well, everyone was in good spirits – dog owners talking about dogs, displaying responsible dog ownership at its best”.

The event raised over £5,000 for dogs in need across Merseyside, Dog charities such as Dogs Trust and Doglost attended the event along with over 20 trade stands. The Dog Bakery had to send out for further supplies twice during the day as dogs crunched on the toffee lollies and dog food gingerbread men.

Sue Billinger of Harvey’s Army, campaigning for changes in dog legislation, said “it was marvellous; we got 915 new signatories to our petition”. Dogs attending the festival ranged from large Harlequin Great Danes to minute Papillons and everything in between.

Sarah Price Parker from Liverpool attended the festival for her son's 12th birthday. She said “We have had this day on our calendar for months. We weren’t disappointed, we had a great afternoon and enjoyed seeing all the wonderful varied breeds of dogs”.

Liverpool’s very own Dog Display team H & M from Thornton, have displayed all over the country but the first event actually in Liverpool was impressive, especially with dogs jumping through hoops of fire. In the crowd was Lauren Roberts and her family. She said “it was such a great day, to see so many people enjoying themselves, especially the dogs, the display group were incredible.

At the end of the day the Best in Show was awarded to the dog in best condition and the runner up was Nicky Latham and her dog TJ. She said “We were over the moon” .

This year’s event, on Sunday the 3rd May at Calderstones Park Liverpool, will be even better... A must for all dog lovers..
