Xote Appeal

We are caring for a young Chihuahua dog found with its front leg fractured and broken in six different places.

The dog found on Thursday night in the area around Southport Rugby club on Waterloo road abandoned.

Paul Dunne manager at the Dogs Home said “he is currently in foster care and we expect him to remain there for at least a month, what sickens me, is not so much the breaks, that I understand could have been accidental, but the fact they occurred around seven weeks ago and the small puppy has received no veterinary attention allowing the bones to grow and join back up in a disfigured way”

The home is known for our unique naming of dogs, we have named him Don Chi-Xote after the 17th century Spanish writer and adventurer Don Quixote, he will be called Xote for short.

Xote has been referred to Liverpool University veterinary unit, Tony Buxton a vet at the university said “the x-rays show quire severe fractures and breakages that may not be able to be fixed” he has been referred to an orthopaedic specialist at the university in an attempt to save his leg.

The Chihuahua puppy is around six months old merle in colour and appealing blue eyes, if any one has any information regarding a possible owner of him are asked to phone the dog wardens on 0151 374 2174 with any information they have.

We have given Xote special need status, where they are making an appeal for funds to help finance Xote’s operation and care costing several thousand pounds.
