At Merseyside dogs home we do much more than help the lost dogs of Merseyside.

Our unique people development programmes help to rahabilitate people by using that special bond humans have with dogs.

Bark-Zella went to visit children in St Patricks School today as part of our Bark and Read Programme, she was greeted with big hugs, tummy tickles and some very good reading from the children!

Zella is four years old and is just one of many lost and stray dogs at Merseyside Dogs Home looking for their forever furmily.

You may recall Sammy who went to the Police for training, she passed her training on Thursday and is now licensed for fire arm searches.

Here she is working this week..... well done Sammy.

Like all of our dogs Sammy joined us as a stray, lost and abandoned, we don't receive any Government or Lottery funding so rely on the generosity of public support to help us do what we do.

Maly, has found her partner, a young eight year old with complex needs and epilepsy.

Maly came to us as stray and through our open paw program has been identified as capable of being an assistance dog. Over 7,000 people in the UK rely on an assistance dog to help with practical tasks. She now needs putting through her paces and specialised training to provide specific needs, we anticipate this will take three months.
